An Overview

Previously known as ‘Senior First Aid’, ‘Provide First Aid HLTAID003’ is the Workplace Level 2 Australian Standard for first aiders within working environments. This particular course is conducted face-to-face and only takes one day session to complete.

Here at First Aid Accident & Emergency (FAAE), we offer regular Provide First Aid HLTAID003 courses, aiming to provide our students with the skills to quickly and correctly react in the event of a medical emergency.

If you are completing ‘Provide First Aid HLTAID003’ for the first time, you must first complete the prerequisite reading—ABC First Aid Guide. This guide will help give you a better grasp of the course prior to attending your training day.

The overall objective of this first aid course is to provide all participants with the knowledge and confidence to administer the most up to date first aid treatments within a workplace setting.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn about first aid treatment for adults, children and babies in a range of different emergency scenarios.

During the ‘Provide First Aid HLTAID003’ course, some of the many things you’ll learn include how to effectively manage:

  • Bleeding
  • Chest pain
  • Cardiac arrest & other heart conditions
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Fractures
  • Shock
  • Allergic reactions, bites & stings
  • Poisoning
  • Medical conditions such as asthma and epilepsy

When completing the ‘Provide First Aid HLTAID003’ course, you will also develop a working knowledge of DRSABCD, learn the best technique to complete two minutes of uninterrupted CPR and develop a knowledge of how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

In order to undertake this course, it’s a requirement that participants are at least 14 years of age. Participants under 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their parent or legal guardian. There are no qualification prerequisites, but it is recommended that you have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills.
