He made headlines across the country and even around the world. Peter Carey was attending a CPR Course facilitated by First Aid Accident and Emergency at our Varsity Lakes headquarters when he suddenly went into cardiac arrest.

Thanks to the quick reactions of trainer Wendy Sullivan with the assistance of the students and the easy access to the onsite defibrillator, Peter was revived through CPR and stabilized until the paramedics arrived. He was rushed to John Flynn Hospital where he was treated and discharged days later after a complete recovery.

Today our FAAE director, Scott Whimpey caught up with Peter in between his time volunteering at the Gold Coast Sailing Club.  “It was great to catch up with Peter and see how well he is doing. He’s grasping and appreciating every bit of his second chance at life and the team at First Aid Accident & Emergency are so happy to see that he’s made a full recovery. It reiterates why we do what we do and how knowing First Aid skills literally save lives.”
