Gold Coast on snake alert – the First Aid you need to know

Venomous snake identification chart

As recently reported in the Gold Coast Bulletin, there has been an alarming and unseasonable increase in the amount of snakes that have been sighted in the Gold Coast area.

Due to the sudden heatwave that the South-East received, snakes that would typically not be active until the middle of Summer, are now out in force.  One man has already been hospitalized after receiving a snake bite and with the temperatures (and number of snakes) set to rise, it is important to be proactive when it comes to first aid for snake bites.

Watch our First Aid Accident & Emergency owner and senior trainer, Scott Whimpey, reenact how to treat a snake bite victim and advice on what to do should you or a family member be bitten by a snake.
