Course options:

If you require your First Aid and CPR with Asthma and Anaphylaxis, it is recommended that you complete the HLTAID004 Qualification

Option 1: CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis $100

For those needing to update CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications, this course incorporating the units 22282VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace, 22300VIC Course in the First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis and Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation HLTAID001

Option 2: Asthma and Anaphylaxis $80

For those only needing to update Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications, this course incorporating the units 22282VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace, 22300VIC Course in the First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis and Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation HLTAID001

Objective

To assist a person suffering an anaphylactic or asthmatic reaction until the arrival of medical assistance. Risk assessing the workplace/home to reduce incidents from happening.

Course Content for Asthma & Anaphylaxis

  • What is anaphylaxis and what are the triggers
  • What are the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis
  • How can you cut the risk of this in the workplace
  • Risk assessments
  • Practical use of all 3 auto injector devices
  • What is asthma and what are the triggers
  • What are the signs and symptoms of asthma
  • How can you cut the risk of this in the workplace
  • Risk assessments and how they work
  • Practical use of asthma puffer and spacer
  • Role play for asthma and an anaphylactic reaction

CPR Content

  • Legal issues
  • Chain of Survival
  • Awareness of an AED (Defibrillator)
  • DRSABCD of resuscitation
  • Two (2) minutes of uninterrupted CPR
  • Demonstrations and practical scenarios using a manikin
  • Hygiene
  • Choking methods

Entry Requirements

Participants must be 14 years or older. Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian which can be accessed by clicking here. There are no qualification pre-requisites for this course however it is recommended that participants have sufficient literacy, language and numeracy skills to successfully complete the course. Examples of these are: basic writing skills, ability to understand English and verbal communication, ability to count to 30, calculate basic ratios, use a timer and tell the time. If a participant feels they need individual support in any of these areas please contact our Administration Manager on 07 55205068 or admin@firstaidae.com.au

Physical Requirement

There is a physical component to this course. Participants will be required to participate in role play activities, practical assessments and be able to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR. Please contact us prior to training to discuss any concerns on 07 55205068 or admin@firstaidae.com.au

Course Duration: 4 hours face to face
Standard Fee: $100.00 (course fees include all training materials)
Student/Concession Fee: $95.00. Must be able to present a valid student card/concession card on the day to validate the discounted price. Inability to present valid ID on the day will result in the balance of the standard fee being payable. Bookings available online, see calendar below.

Course Duration: 2 hours face to face

Student Resources: FAAE provides a great range of student resources available to all participants which is accessible by clicking here. FAAE highly recommends if a participant has no previous CPR/first aid experience that they complete pre-reading of the ABC of First Aid prior to attending the face to face training.

Assessment

First Aid Accident & Emergency offers a hands on approach to training with progressive assessments throughout the course. Assessments undertaken include: written/oral assessments, practical and role play demonstrations and completion of an incident report form. A combination of these assessment methods will provide the participant with the required skills and knowledge to provide CPR and assist a person suffering an anaphylactic or asthmatic reaction until the arrival of medical assistance. The assessor on the day of training may require a student to complete additional learning if they do not have the knowledge or skills to competently complete this course. Further face to face training will be organised at no cost until the participant meets the requirements.

Award

On successful completion of the required assessments the participant will receive a Statement of Attainment in the form of a wallet card for the units:
22282VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace
22300VIC Course in the First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (if applicable)

Renewal

Competency acquisition for 22282VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace and 22300VIC Course in the First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis is every 3 years. Competency acquisition for Provide CPR is every 12 months as per the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.
