First Aid Accident & Emergency offers Advanced Resuscitation training on the Gold Coast. This comprehensive Oxygen and Defibrillation course is combined with CPR to give patients the best chance of resuscitation.

Provide advanced resuscitation HLTAID007 also incorporating HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Objective of Advanced Resuscitation Course Gold Coast

This course is designed for First Aiders to advance their skills in automated external defibrillation, mechanical resuscitation and oxygen delivery.To provide participants with an understanding of the fundamental principles and practical knowledge that can be applied to save and preserve a life in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

Course Content

  • Provide Advance Resuscitation and Provide CPR
  • One and two person resuscitation techniques
  • Eight (8) minutes of CPR with the following:
    • Rescue procedure with ventilation and compressions
    • Use of OP Airway and procedures
    • Use of Defibrillator and procedures
    • Selection and preparation of all oxygen equipment
    • Flow rates of oxygen
    • Maintaining, dismantling, storage & cleaning oxygen equipment
    • 3 simulated scenarios with all oxygen equipment
    • Anatomy relating to resuscitation and oxygen equipment

Entry Requirements

This course is recommended for people that are looking at a higher level of care such as Life Guards, Nursing staff or Fire fighters. Participants must be 14 years or older. Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian which can be accessed by clicking here. There are no qualification prerequisites for this course however it is recommended that participants have sufficient literacy, language and numeracy skills to successfully complete the course. Examples of these are: basic writing skills, ability to understand English and verbal communication, ability to count to 30, calculate basic ratios, use a timer and tell the time. If a participant feels they need individual support in any of these areas please contact our Administration Manager on 07 55205068 or by clicking here.

Physical Requirement

There is a physical component to this course. Participants will be required to participate in role play activities, practical assessments and be able to perform 8 minutes of CPR. Please contact us prior to training to discuss any concerns on 07 55205068 or by clicking here.

Course Duration:

4 hours face to face

Standard Fee:

$100.00 (course fees include all training materials)

Student/Concession Fee:

$95.00. Must be able to present a valid student card/concession card on the day. Inability to present valid ID on the day will result in the balance of the standard fee being payable.

Student Resources: 

FAAE provides a great range of student resources available to all participants which is accessible by clicking here. FAAE highly recommends if a participant has no previous CPR and Advance Resuscitation experience that they complete pre-reading of the ABC of CPR guide prior to attending the face to face training.

Assessment

First Aid Accident & Emergency offers a hands on approach to training with progressive assessments throughout the course. Assessments undertaken include: written/oral assessments, practical and role play demonstrations and completion of an incident report form. A combination of these assessment methods will provide the participant with the required skills and knowledge to provide advance resuscitation. The assessor on the day of training may require a student to complete additional learning if they do not have the knowledge or skills to competently complete this course. Further face to face training will be organised at no cost until the participant meets the requirements.

Award

On successful completion of the required assessments the participant will receive a Statement of Attainment in the form of a wallet card for the units:
HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation
HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Re-Certification

Competency acquisition every 12 months as per the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.
