Why should schools have a defibrillator?
Cardiac arrest will strike without warning—it can occur at anytime and in any place. This is why it’s important to have a defibrillator at the ready.
SCA isn’t something that only happens to adults—children can unfortunately also experience it. This is why many defibrillators have been designed so that they can be switched to a “child mode.” There are also specific accessories available including child electrode pads and battery packs.
CPR is an essential skill to have and it could help you to save a life one day.
Sometimes, however, CPR isn’t enough. If a person needs to be revived after suffering from SCA, the chances of them surviving are dramatically increased when a defib has been used compared to when only using CPR.
