Perform CPR

Course Description:
This training is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge to administer Rescue Breathing (RB) and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) following a life threatening incident.
Practical skills will be assessed during the course.
Course Content:
- Legal Issues within first Aid
- Chain of survival
- Identify and minimise physical hazards to yourself and others health and safety
- Provide first aid management in accordance with established first aid procedures
- Assess unresponsive victims for signs of life
- Seek first aid assistance from others in a timely manner if required
- Perform adequate airway management techniques
- Practise placing the victim correctly in the recovery position
- Apply the techniques of rescue breathing, including the use of a resuscitation mask
- First aid hygiene
- Manage any problems arising during the application of CPR
- Adapt CPR techniques to accommodate infants
- Monitor the condition of the victim
Course Duration: 2 hours
Entry Requirements: Participants must be 14 years or older.
Assessment: Progressive assessment of the competencies will be conducted throughout the course.
Award: On successful completion of the course the trainee will receive a statement of attainment for Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
Recertification: Competency Acquisition every 12 months as per the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.
