Perform CPR

Incorporating the competency Perform CPR (HLTCPR201A)



Course Description:
This training is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge to administer Rescue Breathing (RB) and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) following a life threatening incident.
Practical skills will be assessed during the course.

Course Content:

  • Legal Issues within first Aid
  • Chain of survival
  • Identify and minimise physical hazards to yourself and others health and safety
  • Provide first aid management in accordance with established first aid procedures
  • Assess unresponsive victims for signs of life
  • Seek first aid assistance from others in a timely manner if required
  • Perform adequate airway management techniques
  • Practise placing the victim correctly in the recovery position
  • Apply the techniques of rescue breathing, including the use of a resuscitation mask
  • First aid hygiene
  • Manage any problems arising during the application of CPR
  • Adapt CPR techniques to accommodate infants
  • Monitor the condition of the victim

Course Duration: 2 hours

Entry Requirements:
Participants must be 14 years or older.

Assessment: Progressive assessment of the competencies will be conducted throughout the course.

Award: On successful completion of the course the trainee will receive a statement of attainment for Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

Recertification:  Competency Acquisition every 12 months as per the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.
