Defibrillation Workshop

Incorporating the competency Perform CPR (HLTCPR201A)



Course Description:  
This training and assessment program provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to; locate and use defibrillation equipment, problem solving and work competently in an emergency situation.

Course Content:

  • The heart and its electrical impulse, VT,VF and Asistol.
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest
  • The Chain of Survival
  • How a Defibrillator works and what to expect
  • Problem solving with patients and defibrillators
  • Administration of a Defibrillator, practical use and role plays
  • OHS of Defibrillator and legal requirements of user

Course Duration: 2.5 - 3 hours

Entry Requirements:
Participants must be 14 years or older

Assessment: Progressive assessment of the competencies will be conducted throughout the course.

Award: On successful completion of the course the trainee will receive a statement of attainment for Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and a statement of attendance for Defibrillation.

Recertification: Competency Acquisition every 12 months as per the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.
